Grahame Grieve (Kestral, HL7 Toolsmith) explains the role of the MIF (Model Interchange
Format) in the HL7 version 3 standard.
MIFs are intended to be used by tools only - it is a pre-publication, XML-based, format.
MIFs are used to create documentation, to perform validation, to enable code generation.
They
have no formal role in the HL7 v3 Development Framework (HDF).
